The rainy forecast scared many of registrants away, but a few hardy souls joined us to explore this unique landscape. And luckily, we brought along Cliff Wallis, AKA Sunshine Superman. If he is around the weather will always clear up. And so it did! As we crested the active dunes and paused for lunch the clouds parted and the sun shone down on a lush, green landscape. Flowers such as milkweed, lady slipper, sand rocket, and sand heather were all in bloom and we heard and saw a wide variety of birds. The crossing of the 100m long beaver dam was kept exciting by a stiff wind that kept the water splashing over the top of the dam.
