AWA wrote to express concerns for the addition of a natural gas pipeline through Canadian Forces Base Suffield.
A pipeline was proposed for construction along the west side of Highway 884, with 1.2 km of this pipeline running through federal land. AWA wrote to express concerns for pipeline construction through the mostly intact grasslands of Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Suffield, and to ask for further details on construction plans.
Pipeline construction can disturb the surrounding area, and leaks can be harmful to nearby waters and lands. We asked for additional information on the construction plans and any mitigation expected for the development. We received a response assuring us that this was a replacement for an existing pipeline, and that they would work to reduce damages. Our request for additional information was ignored.
