The mosquitos were thick, but the butterflies were plentiful on our Adventure with Nick Carter to Bunchberry Meadows, just West of Edmonton. The property, co-owned and managed by the Nature Conservancy of Canada and the Edmonton Area Land Trust protects a diverse forest, including jack pine, birch and aspen.
We were able to enjoy a diversity of butterflies, from fritillaries and swallowtails to diminutive blues. The flowers were also putting on a show, as were nesting wrens and numerous other birds, including red-eyed vireo, Tennessee warblers and more.
