Join AWA and the Edmonton Area Land Trust (EALT) for a walk to celebrate the public opening of their newest property and learn about one of their most industrious residents, the beaver. Kirby England (aka the Beaver Guy) will regale participants with beaver tales and fascinating facts about this underappreciated ecosystem engineers as we explore the forests and peatlands of this property and visit its resident beavers and other inhabitants.

Kirby England is a professional biologist, founder and president of You Betula Environmental Inc., and faculty at Lethbridge Polytechnic in the School of Environmental Sciences. A passionate “Beaver Guy,” he specializes in beaver ecology and coexistence, wetland management, and wildlife conservation across Western Canada.

Kayleen is the Conservation Coordinator at EALT and a lifelong Edmontonian who found her passion for nature through visits to her family’s cabin and as well as many hunting and camping trips. Kayleen’s experiences have included a variety of opportunities with Alberta Environment and Parks such as CWD field work, natural history interpretation, and parks planning. She is passionate about helping Albertans connect with nature, and communicating conservation science in a way that everyone can understand. At EALT, Kayleen works on stewardship projects and activities, and coordinates volunteer programs and outreach projects.
