Adventure for Wilderness – Frank Lake Birding and Photography

We had an excellent group of keen birders join us for an early morning on May 24th to explore some of the resident and migratory birds that visit Frank Lake. While everyone was getting the hang of spotting birds in the bushes and the water, Cam was confidently helping people to ID what they were seeing and hearing.
We saw multiple Soras wandering in front of us (a rare sight, as they’re often seen rather than heard). We also spotted tons of waders and shorebirds, like the American Avocet, Black-necked Stilt, and Wilson’s Phalarope. As we headed into the blind, we spent some time looking at the different grebes and waterfowl species that floated and flew in front of us. Some people were able to spot “lifers”, and others focused on getting great shots of our feathered friends. We meandered around the shore for the rest of the morning, and said farewell with our cameras and guidebooks filled with new memories.
